Boy Pillow

My middle son, J has been requesting a car pillow for a loooooong time now and I couldn't resist his pouty lip and big eyes anymore, so here we have it!
I like to call it "Wheels" since there are many types of transportation.  J loves anything with wheels and was quite pleased with the end result.  I didn't think that I could pull off all of those fabrics together, but I guess it doesn't look too bad.  I didn't get a picture of the back.  It is a cityscape with roads and buildings.  He insisted that it had to go on the back.  I insisted that it didn't match at all, but he won.  All in all, it looks okay.  And I even got a thank you and a smile!

And here is B with Baby M.  Holding babies makes one tired!

And on a stinky note, as I was up with baby M last night at 2:20 I heard a crash and a car speeding away.  I looked out the window to see my van and my neighbor's van both smashed and a big mark in the snow in my yard.  Very annoying that some people can't face the music when it comes to their actions.  I'm not looking forward to my $500 deductible for someone else's stupidity!  Sorry for the griping...I'm still just really annoyed! :(

Congratulations with the baby and the blogiversary!
If I win I think this charm pack would end up as either a baby quilt or a table topper. The fabrics are wonderful and would do well in a lot of projects:-)

Send me a quick email with your address and I'll get your charm pack in the mail ASAP!

FNSI- not so productive

Another FNSI, thanks to Bobbi and Heidi!! Unfortunately, I wasn't as productive as I had planned.  If only I could grow four or five new hands or hire an au pair!  My children all had other plans for my evening, but I did manage to get my Potholder Pass 6 potholders quilted and the bindings partially prepared to put on.  I like how these potholders are turning out.  I hope that my secret partner will enjoy them.  I'm very excited that my shipping deadline is over a month away and I am almost finished.  That doesn't usually happen when I'm working.  I'm loving my time off!

These were my first ever pinwheels.  I have always stayed away from pinwheels because I was afraid of the points not meeting in the middle.  Thanks to a post from Pam's blog, I found out about a super simple way to make pinwheels using a tutorial from the Missouri Star Quilt Company on youtube.  They have a ton of really useful tutorials!  Be sure to check them out!

And if you are looking for my Blogiversary Giveaway just click here.  It is open until Monday AM.

I missed it!

I was a little busy on December 31st lying in the hospital recovering from a CSection and oohing and aahing over my beautiful new Baby M that I just happened to miss my first blogiversary.  I always imagined that I would have a great post on that day and do a giveaway to show my appreciation to those who have been reading my random thoughts and looking at my various projects.
Better late than never!
I have really appreciated all of your comments and advice over the past year.  I have been blessed to meet you and have formed some great friendships with some of you.  It is so nice to have a bond with people who like the same things.  I just wish we could all be in the same room to work on our projects together!  That would be so fun!

I know I've given a Make Life charm pack away before, but I'm going to do it again anyway.  It's one of my favorites!  The fabrics just make me smile and I hope they will make one of you happy, too!
If you are a follower of my blog just leave a comment to enter.  Maybe you could tell me what you would do with the charm pack if you win it.  Mr. Random Number Generator will pick a lucky winner on the morning of January 24th. (That was my actual due date...so glad I am already done with the healing part!!)
Good luck!  I can't wait to read your comments!

Just because...

I know this has nothing to do with sewing.  It's actually the reason I haven't done any sewing.  But he's just too cute!  Baby M- my very first thumb sucker!

Let It Snow, Snowman!- Bloggers Pillow Party

Okay, so in the midst of the baby coming a bit early and our holiday being a bit disrupted this year due to pregnancy I am a bit late with this post.  I also didn't get to retake photos during the daylight of my cute little snowman pillow that I made for my mom for Christmas.  This is also my entry into the Bloggers Pillow Party for January.  Be sure to check out all the rules for that super cool contest at Stitched in Color.

My parents were coming up on the 30th of December to celebrate Christmas with us, but I ended up in the hospital that very same day and had our precious new Baby M who never sleeps between 12AM and 2AM.  He is still adorable though!  :-)

So long story short, I have crappy pillow pictures because my mom already took the pillow home (3 hours away) before I got out of the hospital.  I actually had to wrap the pillow after I knew I was in labor, but I didn't think I should take time to photagraph it, too.  Sorry fellow bloggers!  North western PA weather in the winter is just not condusive to taking pictures.

The pillow is made with some fantastic Deb Strain fabric.  I absolutely love it and wish I could have gotten to the new year sale at my LQS to stock up on it for next year's projects.  I also did the snowman stitchery all in blue on quilted muslin, which is much thicker than regular muslin.  I really like how it gives it stability and texture.  I think the stitching looks great next to the dark blue fabric.  I simply quilted 4 lines around the outside of the stitchery.
But best of all, my mom loves it!

My favorite and best project of 2010

This makes a fantastic ending to the year!  Little Baby M came into the world a tad bit (4 weeks) early on December 30th, weighing 6 lbs 9 oz and was 19 inches long, which makes him the smallest little peanut of the gang.
He is such a joy, even through the sleepless nights and tired days!  His big brothers are very proud and have proven to be quite helpful, perhaps too helpful at times.  Even more helpful though is my awesome husband.  I don't know what I would do without him!

What a sweetie!

I'll post some other projects soon.  I actually have a couple of Christmas projects to finish.  I was planning to work on them before the new arrival, so sorry to my SIL, Karen.  I'll try hard to get them done soon.  Hopefully before your August birthday!!
